Rollover involving off-road vehicle on N 2970 Rd in Pond Creek kills 1

POND CREEK, OK – A Lamont man died overnight Saturday in an accident involving an off-road vehicle in south-central Grant County, reports News on 6.

The incident happened just after midnight on County Road 970, or N 2970 Road, in Pond Creek. This is about 83 miles northwest of Stillwater.

Police say that the unrestrained 23-year-old driver of a 2022 Yamaha YXZ lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn. The force of the crash threw the driver from the vehicle, killing him at the scene.

Authorities identified the victim as Colby C. Smith.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

A full investigation is underway.
