Wrong-way crash on US-259 in central McCurtain Co. kills 1, injures 1

MCCURTAIN CO., OK – One person died, another was seriously hurt Tuesday in a wrong-way collision along the highway in central McCurtain County, reports KTUL News 8.

The accident happened between Hochatown and Sherwood on US-259. This is near Beavers Bend State Park and Nature Center.

Police say that for unknown reasons, a northbound 2016 Chevy pickup entered the southbound side of the highway and crashed head-on into a southbound driver.

The wrong-way driver, whom authorities have not yet identified, died at the scene of the accident.

Medics airlifted the other driver to an area hospital with critical injuries.

A full investigation is underway.
