OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A 26-year-old truck driver died, and his passenger went to the hospital Thursday after an 18-wheeler crash along the interstate.
According to News 9, the incident happened on the eastbound side of I-40 near South Anderson Lane, which is just northwest of Buddha Mind Monastery in eastern Oklahoma City.
The investigation thus far indicates that the tractor-trailer overturned after hitting a center barrier on the interstate. The truck driver had veered out of his eastbound lane and then overcorrected before the crash occurred.
The unrestrained driver, identified as Sonu Nehra, died after he was thrown from the passenger window and pinned beneath the truck.
The passenger in the truck was hospitalized, though the extent of his injuries is unclear.
A full investigation is underway.
