NORMAN, OK – Two men in their 30s died Tuesday morning when one vehicle rear-ended another at a central Norman intersection, reports KOCO News 5.
The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. at North Flood Avenue and West Robinson Street, which is east of Westwood Park and north of the Old Silk Stocking area.
Police say that a speeding eastbound driver crashed into the back of another eastbound vehicle that was stopped at a red light. The collision forced the vehicle in front through the intersection and into a traffic pole while the vehicle in back ignited after overturning.
Both drivers died at the scene of the accident. Officials have not yet released their identities to the public.
Authorities say that the driver of the rear vehicle may have been intoxicated at the time of the crash.
A full investigation is underway.
